A Jewel Trilogy Novella

England, 1667

Sensible Clarice Bradford is content in her widowhood. She has a pretty one-room cottage and a lovely little daughter, and the last thing she wants is another husband. Until one fairytale evening when she's invited to a wedding at a castle...

Scottish gentleman Sir Cameron Leslie is smitten with the shy, English beauty at first sight. He's fiercely drawn to the very strength and independence that make her unwilling to throw caution to the wind and bestow her heart on a younger man. Though passion flares between them, it will take everything Cameron can muster to reawaken Clarice's long-forgotten dreams of true love...

PLEASE NOTE: This Jewel Trilogy novella is a short novel--about 1/4 the length of Lauren's full-length novels. In other words, it's longer than a short story, but shorter than a typical book. Forevermore stands alone as a complete story, but if you'd prefer to read it in order within the trilogy, chronologically it falls between Emerald and Amber.

I love to read historical romance stories. This is the first one I have read by this author. After reading this novella, I plan to read the rest of the Jewel Trilogy. I liked that you were told the word count and the page count of the story before you bought it. The length of the story was perfect. Everything that needed to be said about the h/h was said. I really enjoyed the romance of this story. The hero was very persistence but very patience. I felt he knew how to court a woman. He saw what he wanted and he went after it. The heroine believed that she had a few problems that would keep them apart and she voiced those concerns. The couple did not try to hide any issues that were problematic. Everything was said that needed to be said. In the end everyone lived happily forevermore.

I loved this story, short but sweet and nicely written. Attraction or love at first sight, great but when it happens between a twentyfour year old man and a thirtytwo year woman who lives in a villege; has been nearly raped and had been married at a young age to an forty something year old man who actually raped her everytime he took her as well as beat her. No wonder it was hard for her to believe someone would love her and than have to deal with being afraid of being with him physically. To conquer those fears and get married within a week's time but Cameron Leslie did it. Would read again!
