Product Description

The witch is back… Rose loves a good party. It’s a perfect opportunity for her to do what she does best—meddle in other people’s love lives. Better still, with all the distracting celebrations no one ever suspects there might truly be magic in the air.As a teenager, Merry Lewis vowed never to fall in love and so far she’s managed to stay true to her promise, but that’s all about to change when she bites off more than she can chew. As if Merry doesn’t have enough on her plate, it isn’t long before Jack Campbell—the gorgeous, totally irresistible recipient of the other slice of spell-ridden cake—really starts to complicate things. An incredible week ensues where Jack pushes Merry to her limits and beyond, testing Merry to finally overcome her fears and let herself love.

3.0 out of 5 stars Reading wasn't hell but it could have been better, April 24, 2012

This book was cute for a short read but there were a few places that it should have been longer such as explanations on how they got to something or leading up to something. Of course we all want to read the erotic stuff but I like the story getting there to be a story too. Just saying.

3.0 out of 5 stars Slightly boring, little sense of Scotland, April 25, 2012

Two stunningly beautiful people reconnecting ten years after their parents' scandal prevented it when they were teens. Competently edited, this novella has an interesting set-up and plot, but the execution of the storyline and its individual scenes are too short to allow the reader time to develop much of an emotional attachment to the central characters. No interesting surprises or twists. The story is as predictable and as carefully controlled as the grammar is neat and tidy. Conflict is all internal (on the heroine's part), not completely explained, and forced at best.

Although there are references to Islay (the setting) and Edinburgh, there is no real sense of the actual setting. Dialogue is not colloquial (King's English all the way). While fake or forced Scottish accents in dialogue can be annoying, having none of it at all destroys a reader's sense of place. (My hubby and my in-laws are Scottish, and they relish the patter and use it constantly; even though they are... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Okay, but felt forced in places, April 28, 2012

This story for me was a bit much. While it might work for some I found the constant POV change one each page with no markers a tad annoying. The actual erotic parts of this story seem...well...not to be mean; forced, fake, and overdone. The prose worked well for me, but I unfortunately lost interest halfway through. I am not calling this book bad, it just could be better. But this is just my opinion. Take it as you will.
