5.0 out of 5 stars Video and Sounds works on Macbook Pro 13 Mid 2010, June 30, 2010

This review is from: Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Female Adapter Cable for Apple Macbook, Macbook Pro... (Electronics)
Bought this worried that the audio would not work, and I can confirm that sound and video both works with this adapter. I am using the latest Macbook Pro 13 with Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz, the mid 2010, model MC374LL/A. Once connected, the macbook will auto detect your tv and will show both monitors. Just go to system preference, sound, output, and select your TV as the output for the sound. You will then have audio and video on your TV. You could also mirror the screen to the TV and assign the video output for the TV to 1080p, under system preference, displays.

Working great so far!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good product but beware which seller you are getting from, December 2, 2010

This review is from: Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Female Adapter Cable for Apple Macbook, Macbook Pro... (Electronics)
First of all beware buyers, do not buy from the seller ELMENOS if you want a Mini DisplayPort with HDMI with working video AND AUDIO support, I have read all the negative reviews where people said they are not getting audio from their TVs and such. It is because ELMENOS, one out of the several sellers, are selling the Mini DisplayPorts with no AUDIO support. I was; however, lucky enough to order from BargainCell which sent the correct Mini DisplayPort to HDMI that is displayed in the picture. However, my friend who I referred to buy this adapter also bought this item from ELMENOS and they sent him a different adapter than what was displayed in the picture. When he emailed ELMENOS, the seller told him he bought the wrong item, and it does not come with audio support and referred him to a more expensive Mini DisplayPort. All in all I am very happy with my purchase from BargainCell which provided me with AUDIO and VIDEO on my 2010 Macbook Pro; however, my friend is not. It seems... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars 1080p (and higher I presume), June 28, 2010

This review is from: Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Female Adapter Cable for Apple Macbook, Macbook Pro... (Electronics)
This is a great option for connecting your laptop to an HDTV, monitor without display port, or your A/V receiver.

Unfortunately if your macbook pro was purchased before the summer of 2010 then this adapter will not carry an audio signal to the HDMI cable that you plug into it. That is easily remedied by purchasing a mini-toslink to toslink cable or adapter and running two cords.

I have this running from my Late 2008 Macbook pro to my Pioneer VSX-1020-K then to my LG 42LH90 and it looks amazing. I will probably braid together a 15ft HDMI cable, a 15ft TOSLINK cable, and a 15ft network cable to use when I want to hook the Mac up to the big screen.

Rating: 3.2

  • Fifty Shades of Grey
Rating: 3.2

Product Description

When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success—his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family—Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.

This book is intended for mature audiences.

2.0 out of 5 stars Did a teenager write this???, April 15, 2012

This review is from: Fifty Shades of Grey: Book One of the Fifty Shades Trilogy (Paperback)
I really don't like writing bad reviews. I admire people who have the courage to put pen to paper and expose themselves to the whole world, especially those writing erotica. Having just finished this book, however, I feel compelled to write a review.

About half way through the book, I looked up the author to see if she was a teenager. I really did because the characters are out of a 16 year old's fantasy. The main male character is a billionaire (not a millionaire but a billionaire) who speaks fluent French, is basically a concert level pianist, is a fully trained pilot, is athletic, drop dead gorgeous, tall, built perfectly with an enormous penis, and the best lover on the planet. In addition, he's not only self made but is using his money to combat world hunger. Oh yeah, and all of this at the ripe old age of 26! And on top of that, he's never working. Every second is spent having sex or texting and emailing the female character. His billions seem to have just come about... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Bestseller? Really???, March 25, 2012
By
DS from LA (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
I enjoy erotica and heard so much about this book that I had to give it a shot, but I'm five chapters in and just can't take it anymore. This has to be the most appallingly atrocious writing I've ever seen in a major release. The pseudonymous British author sets the action (such as it is) in Washington State... for no reason than that her knowledge of America apparently consists of what she read in "Twilight"... but the entire first-person narrative is filled with Britishisms. How many American college students do you know who talk about "prams," "ringing" someone on the phone, or choosing a "smart rucksack" to take "on holiday"? And the author's geography sounds like she put together a jigsaw puzzle of the Pacific Northwest while drunk and ended up with several pieces in the wrong place.

And oh, the repetition...and the repetition...and the repetition. I'm convinced the author has a computer macro that she hits to insert one of her limited repertoire of facial... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Not the worst I've ever read... No, wait. It IS., March 6, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
I downloaded the book to my Kindle because it was on the best seller list and had 4 stars overall rating on Amazon. I wish I'd taken the time to read some of the reviews. As it turns out I agree with the negative.
I found myself thinking "Twilight, plus some spanking, minus the sparkly vampires." Here, I'll save you all some time (SPOILER ALERT):

Once upon a time...
I'm Ana. I'm clumsy and naive. I like books. I dig this guy. He couldn't possibly like me. He's rich. I wonder if he's gay? His eyes are gray. Super gray. Intensely gray. Intense AND gray. Serious and gray. Super gray. Dark and gray. [insert 100+ other ways to say "gray eyes" here]
I blush. I gasp. He touches me "down there." I gasp again. He gasps. We both gasp. I blush some more. I gasp some more. I refer to my genitals as "down there" a few more times. I blush some more. Sorry, I mean I "flush" some more. I bite my lip. He gasps a lot more. More gasping. More blushing/flushing. More lip... Read more

,Fools Rush In (Weddings by Bella, Book 1)

Customer Rating :
Rating: 3.8

List Price : $6.99 Price :

    Rating: 3.8

    Product Description

Bella Rossi may be nearing thirty, but her life is just starting to get interesting. When her Italian-turned-Texan parents hand over the family wedding planning business, Bella is determined not to let them down. She quickly books a "Boot Scoot'n" wedding that would make any Texan proud. There's only one catch--she's a country music numbskull because her family only listens to Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. Where will she find a DJ on such short notice who knows his Alan Jackson from his Keith Urban?

When a misunderstanding leads her to the DJ (and man) of her dreams, things start falling into place. But with a family like hers, nothing is guaranteed. Can the perfect Texan wedding survive a pizza-making uncle with mob ties, an aunt who is a lawsuit waiting to happen, and a massive delivery of 80 cowboy boots? And will Bella ever get to plan her own wedding?

Book one in the Weddings by Bella series, Fools Rush In is fun, fresh, and full of surprises. Readers will love the flavorful combination of Italian and Tex-Mex, and the hilarity that ensues when cultures clash.

    4.0 out of 5 stars Funny!, January 8, 2010
This book was funny from the first page. I have never read a book with so much religion in it before, but that did not stop me from picking up this book. Just from reading the description on the back of the book, I knew that I had to read this. I love anything weddings, and a little bit of romance never hurts.
The book starts off with Bella's parents retiring from their wedding business. They have decided to give the business over to Bella, her first wedding is a boot scoot'n country wedding with cowboy boots as the centerpieces. There is only one problem, Bella is full blown Italian and her family has only ever done traditional weddings. But when Bella advertises that she is doing themed weddings she starts getting calls for some crazy weddings.
She meets DJ towards the beginning of the book when she hears a man talking about DJ on the phone, Bella thinks that this is a sign from God since she is looking for a deejay for the wedding she is planning. Get it, DJ is his name,... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars A Light Hearted Fun Read, November 27, 2010
    By
After reading all the glowing reviews here I had high hopes for this book. Perhaps too high!

First the good. As other reviewers have commented the Rossi family form a cast of lively, quirky and very funny laugh-out-loud characters. They swoop you up in one big embrace and carry you along the story as you flip the pages.

So why the three stars? Firstly, I found the book a little difficult to get into. I've owned if for over a year and after three failed attempts finally managed to crack my way past page 50. Personally, I think this was because I found those first fifty a little too much backstory, introspection and introductions and not enough action.

    *Possible semi spoiler*
Secondly, I think I've realised I like my romances to have a few more obstacles. While trying not to spoil anything for future readers, if the feature romance had had a little more conflict and tension it would have definitely had me a bit more engaged. It was all just a little... Read more

Mocha with Linda (Texas, United States) - See all my reviews
What do you suppose happens when the Bella of a passionate & noisy Italian clan meets a Texas cowboy? Mamma mia! Something's bound to be cooking, and I don't just mean the pizza and BBQ!

Twenty-nine and single, Bella Rossi has taken over the management of her family's wedding facility and bridal consulting business and immediately changes its focus from traditional to themed weddings. The only flaw is that it's less than two weeks before her first event, a Boot-Scootin' western wedding, and she still has to lasso a deejay (along with a few other minor details, such as music, food, and centerpieces). That seems to be a daunting task until she overhears a customer at her uncle's pizzeria talking to a deejay and convinces him to give her his number (the deejay's, not the customer's). After Dwayne (or Duh-wayne, as he pronounces it!) arrives and the initial meeting with her and the couple getting married takes an unexpected turn, Bella falls for him - literally, in a fainting...
